Join us on Thursday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. for “Free Legal Tech for Everyone,” a free Legal Tech Institute webinar from the Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library. This program is accredited by the State Bar of Texas for 1.0 hour of CLE. This program will be recorded, and accreditation is valid though April 2022.
Read moreDuring the month of August alone, the Center for Strategic & International Studies recorded nine cyber attacks that targeted government agencies and/or high-tech companies or caused an economic loss of more than one million dollars. As of May 25, 2021, according to the Health Sector Cybersecurity Coordination Center or HC3, there had been 82 ransomware incidents that affected the healthcare sector worldwide. Colonial Pipeline suffered a ransomware attack in late April that had a profound impact on the critical infrastructure system of the United States. As cyber attacks and ransomware attacks become more prevalent, it is incumbent upon businesses, large and small, to take immediate steps to reduce their risk of falling prey to cyber criminals and hackers.

What’s behind the name? “Ex Libris Juris” is Latin for “from the books of law” and much of the information here will relate to the legal information collected and curated by the Law Library. Additionally, “Ex Libris” has long appeared on bookplates – labels appearing inside the front cover of books – and has acquired the connoted meaning “from the library of” to show ownership of the book. Using this connotation, the phrase becomes “from the library of law” and better describes the posts about digital resources, event announcements, and research tips that will regularly appear here.
