Document Assembly – It’s not just for documents anymore

Program Title: Document Assembly – It’s not just for documents anymore

Speaker: Michael Hofrichter, Esq., Executive Director, Houston Volunteer Lawyers

Program Description: Document assembly can help attorneys and pro se litigants file clean, typewritten documents that meet court standards. However, you can also use it to build educational tools. Automated expert systems can guide users through complex areas of the law, helping them to understand their legal situation and the steps they need to take. We'll look at how to employ logic trees and assembly tools to help clients fill out forms, to screen clients for additional services, to educate pro se users, and to increase attorney efficiency. The presentation will discuss some platforms currently used in Texas and elsewhere, including HotDocs, A2J, Docassemble, QNA Markup, and more.
